NCF welcomes newest Housing Program Associate, Ellery

Ellery volunteered at nonprofit tax clinics from 2017-2022, and he had the chance to do a photoshoot showcasing his love of video games for a tax clinic’s annual calendar in 2021.

The staff at Northcountry Cooperative Foundation (NCF) continues to expand! We are happy to welcome Ellery Wealot to the team. Ellery assumed the role of Housing Program Associate in May. He has a wealth of experience in cooperative education, management, and research. Before joining NCF, he volunteered on the board of Students’ Cooperative in Minneapolis, where he oversaw the renovation and reopening of the property following significant financial and operational challenges during the pandemic.

Ellery is passionate about the cooperative model. Having experienced firsthand the social and financial benefits of living in a housing cooperative, he is excited to assist others in establishing cooperative communities so they can also experience the long-term stability and security that come with cooperative ownership.

In his role as Housing Associate, Ellery will be providing technical and governance assistance and support to resident-owned communities in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Born in La Crosse, WI, Ellery moved around the Midwest throughout his childhood. With five siblings, each born in a different state, Ellery learned about cooperation at an early age. He graduated high school in Dodge Center, MN and earned a bachelor's degree in Financial and Organizational Management from the University of Minnesota, Morris. While at UMM, Ellery participated in campus government, worked in residential life, and researched worker cooperatives. He moved to the Twin Cities in 2016, subsequently moving into the Students’ Cooperative, where he lived and served on the Board from 2017-2018, returning as an alumni volunteer board member from 2022-2024.

Ellery lives in South Minneapolis, where he attends weekly movie nights and enjoys board- and video games. He also likes riding his bike, walking around the lake while listening to audiobooks, and taking fitness classes at the YMCA.  He has also volunteered at nonprofit tax clinics in the past, considers Sunday brunch to be the most important meal of the week, and is trying to learn guitar, with mixed results.

NCF is happy to have him on our team.
