Protect threatened affordable housing through cooperative ownership.

Your donation could prevent the loss of the next affordable community. Manufactured home communities (“mobile home parks”) are the largest pool of unsubsidized affordable housing, and they are under threat. Recently, we saw the closure of Lowry Grove Mobile Home Park. Over 100 households were displaced, most losing homes that they owned (which couldn’t be moved for financial and structural reasons). Sungold Heights almost faced the same fate. Before becoming a cooperative, the community had failing infrastructure. Under private ownership, the community would have likely been closed. Working with the community, we helped get support from Minnesota Housing to finance the community purchase and improve the infrastructure. Today, Sungold Heights is thriving under resident ownership.
